Things good to Know
What is mineral powder?
How is it different from conventional powder? What makes mineral powder special is—as the name suggests—its ingredients. ANGEL MINERALS typically contains four:
Calcium sulfate contributes to an even finish and absorbs oil.
Silica has a mattifying and smoothing effect.
Mica (glimmer) ensures a healthy, radiant complexion.
Boron nitride protects against the sun and smooths the skin.
Added to that are color pigments.
Artificial oils or nanoparticles don't make it into our jars! Synthetic fragrances, silicones, binders, and cheap fillers must also be kept out. We focus on minimalism, transparency, and purified raw materials. It's important to us not to pollute our planet.
What's the difference from conventional cream makeup?
The difference from conventional cream makeup is that the synthetic ingredients in cream makeup can cause irritation on dry or sensitive skin. However, mineral powder is great for use even on dry skin. Our more than 10 years of experience with it demonstrates this. Unlike conventional cream makeup products, our cosmetics do not contain mineral oil. Conventional cream makeup often contains filtered mineral oil. The effect: The skin feels "wonderfully" soft, but can no longer breathe properly. Because makeup containing mineral oil forms a layer on the skin. Regeneration? None. Therefore: Not with us!
What's wrong with talc?
Talc is also a mineral and, in powder form, a popular ingredient in the cosmetics industry. It initially appears to make skin soft, but in the long run it clogs pores, is comedogenic, and severely dries out the skin. Clearly, this ingredient is taboo for us!
Nanoparticles
The effect of these controversial tiny particles on the body has not yet been sufficiently researched. It is believed that, due to their small size, they can penetrate the skin and even break through cell walls. Therefore, we completely avoid nano-sized raw materials. For further information, see our INCI guide.
Mineral powder has another important advantage:
It has high coverage, yet is almost invisible. How does this work? Redness, blemishes, and other minor problems disappear beneath the powder. At the same time, your face appears even, your skin can breathe, and best of all: You look as if you're not wearing any makeup!
Are ANGEL MINERALS mineral powders organic?
In principle, organic certification for mineral makeup is actually unnecessary. However, customers feel more secure with a certification label. This is one of the reasons why we have also had our products certified as natural cosmetics (by ICADA). This gives our customers, as well as ourselves, the added assurance that the raw materials are truly pure, not nanosized, and free of allergens such as gluten. We can also be assured that our certifier excludes microplastics and child labor. They wouldn't certify such products at all.
What about shelf life?
Minerals don't have an expiration date, even if they don't contain preservatives. Mineral powders are inorganic substances that don't support microbial growth. Nevertheless, it's important to regularly clean brushes after use, as they absorb skin oils and the skin cream used during use. Although the powder is free of bacteria, makeup brushes can be a breeding ground for them. If you have acne or a contagious disease, we strongly recommend using appropriate accessories such as glass spatulas and our disinfectant spray for each use, and also washing your brushes thoroughly every now and then with a silicone-free (!) soap or shampoo.
