Our INCI List (Ingredients)
Naturally vegan - sustainable - certified - transparent
At ANGEL MINERALS, we use only the purest raw materials: powders, waxes, oils, and purified pigments. We categorically reject child labor - and so do our suppliers. We have also succeeded in keeping palm oil entirely out of all raw materials.
We do not use talc - even though it is technically natural - and we absolutely avoid mineral oil. Our powders are gluten-free and halal (free from animal ingredients and alcohol). They are made in Germany and have an almost unlimited shelf life. Our lipsticks, lip liners, eye pencils, and mascaras are produced in the USA.
The overwhelming number of ingredients in conventional cosmetics has made us rethink what we want to avoid. Our formulas contain just a few high-quality ingredients - usually only three - plus natural mineral pigments.
You will never find these ingredients in ANGEL MINERALS products:
Acetone, Alcohol, Azo dyes, Gluten, Hormone-disrupting substances, Preservatives, Lactose, Microplastics, Mineral oil, Palm oil, Parabens, Paraffin, PEGs, Silicones, Sulfates, Animal by-products (such as horn, hooves, urine, bones, hair, etc.)
We also exclude ingredients often used in other mineral powders:
Bismuth (wismuth): A waste product from metal production.
Cornmeal: Frequently contaminated with pesticides.
Rice flour: Also often pesticide-contaminated.
Talcum: Suspected of clogging pores and drying out the skin.Nanoparticles (micronized): Believed to potentially penetrate cell and intestinal walls.
Our powders are oil-free and therefore non-comedogenic - they don’t clog pores. This makes them especially suitable for acne-prone skin. In fact, many users (myself included) have seen their acne disappear after switching to our powders.
We proudly label our products as CLEAN BEAUTY and VEGAN.
"Clean Beauty" means:
- No animal testing
- Free from ingredients that are considered harmful
- Not necessarily "all natural," but compliant with natural cosmetic certification standards
CI Pigments in Our Powders (Color Index Numbers):
Each pigment is globally registered under CI (Color Index) numbers:
- CI 77007: Ultramarine Blue (inorganic, nature-identical)
- CI 77019: Mica (nature-identical)
- CI 77491 / 77492 / 77499: Iron oxides (also found in vegetables)
- CI 77891: Titanium dioxide (non-nano)
- CI 77947: Zinc oxide (non-nano)
Derived Natural Ingredients
These are the result of chemical processes that are permitted within natural cosmetics standards and are based exclusively on natural substances.
Nature-Identical Ingredients
These are pigments, minerals, or preservatives found in nature, but reproduced in a lab for purity and sustainability. Their molecular structure is the same as the original. Artificially created substances are not allowed. The lab reproduction ensures consistency, safety, and environmental responsibility.
Mineral powders are inorganic and can be listed by their chemical composition. However, since their structure mirrors that of naturally occurring minerals, they can still be certified as natural cosmetics.
The same principle applies to (semi-) precious stones. Amethyst, for instance, is chemically the same as quartz (SiO2) but contains natural impurities. Instead of filtering these out, we use pure silicon dioxide directly.
Boron Nitride
Often confused with boron (an acid), boron nitride is a rare and costly mineral found in diamonds and graphite. In its hexagonal form, it is a safe and effective cosmetic ingredient. In our powders, boron nitride acts as a light reflector and a soft-focus agent that offers high coverage, smooth texture, and excellent skin adhesion. In sunscreens, it can boost both SPF and UVA protection.
Its silky, graphite-like texture makes application easy and precise. It is rated as "recommended" by the Skin Protection Angel. We use a nature-identical version that is eco-friendly and ethically sourced.
Calcium Sulfate
Calcium sulfate is a naturally occurring mineral compound of calcium and sulfur. It is used in food - for example, to help tofu solidify into a sliceable form. It's also a by-product of tartaric acid production. The human body contains over a kilogram of calcium, mostly stored in bones. Calcium sulfate is safe and approved as a food additive, and it supports calcium intake.
In cosmetics, calcium sulfate helps give our powders a soft but structured texture - preventing them from becoming too "fluffy." Unlike talc, it doesn’t clog pores. In homeopathy, it's known as Calcium Sulfuricum and is used for skin prone to blemishes. It is also part of the Schuessler salts, valued in dermatology for promoting a healthy complexion.
Carnauba Wax
Brazil is the primary producer of carnauba wax, a hard plant-based wax derived from the leaves of the carnauba palm. The leaves naturally secrete wax to prevent evaporation. After drying, most of the wax falls off naturally, and the rest is harvested through gentle scraping or brushing. Carnauba wax has the highest melting point of all natural plant waxes (80–87°C) and emits a mild hay-like scent when melted.
Because yields are low per hectare, carnauba wax is rare and expensive. Yet, it grows densely even in barren regions and remains sustainably available thanks to stable demand. As veganism rises, it serves as an ethical alternative to beeswax.
Mica
Natural mica is often mined under inhumane conditions - particularly in India, where children are forced to work in dangerous underground mines. In the states of Bihar and Jharkhand, over 30,000 children work for less than 40 cents a day in mica extraction.
We refuse to support this exploitation.
At ANGEL MINERALS, we use nature-identical mica that has the same molecular structure as natural mica but is produced ethically and sustainably in a lab. It ensures transparency, performance, and peace of mind.
Silica (Silicic Acid)
Silica - or silicic acid - is a naturally occurring compound made of silicon. It is essential for our bodies, playing a key role in the formation of collagen and connective tissue. Since the body can’t produce it, we get it through food: grains (like oats and millet), vegetables, and fruits.
Silica is also the primary component of sand and quartz, making it one of the most abundant minerals in Earth’s crust.
In our powders, silica ensures better spreadability, and it absorbs both moisture and sebum, leaving the skin smooth and matte.
Titanium Dioxide (CI77891)
Titandioxid Titanium dioxide is a white pigment with a broad spectrum of applications, which is why an estimated four to five million tons are produced globally each year. Its primary uses include coatings such as varnishes and paints, as well as plastic colorings and laminate papers. Even colored products often contain white pigments like titanium dioxide to enhance their opacity and brightness.
However, titanium dioxide has become controversial in recent years. According to the latest research and regulatory assessments, the CI77891 pigment only falls into the category of potentially harmful substances (e.g., possibly carcinogenic - though not definitively proven) when used in nanoparticle form.
Nanoparticles are extremely small particles that may be inhaled or absorbed through the skin or intestines. In this context, some studies suggest they could penetrate the lungs or cross intestinal barriers. However, this research remains inconclusive, and no definitive risk has been scientifically established.
Since 2009, all cosmetic manufacturers have been legally obligated to disclose the presence of nanoparticles by clearly indicating them on the INCI list, using terms such as "micronized" or "nano".
At ANGEL MINERALS, we only use non-nano titanium dioxide, meaning the particle sizes are far too large to be absorbed by the body. To put it into perspective: it’s like comparing a Fiat 500 to a double-decker truck. We also invite you to read our blog posts for more in-depth information on this topic BLOG-Beiträge.
That said, because titanium dioxide is often mentioned in the media and some of our customers actively seek titanium dioxide-free alternatives, we have responded with specially formulated powders that are 100% free of titanium dioxide.
In these products, titanium dioxide has been replaced by cellulose and boron nitride - two safe, effective ingredients that maintain coverage and performance without compromising safety.
